Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 511!

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 511's web site. Boy Scout Troop 511 in Austin TX is sponsored by St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, and was founded in 1972. Over the years, we have had more than 170 young men become Eagle Scouts. We have a lovely outdoor program, including about 10 outdoor outings a year, summer camp and a high adventure trip for older Scouts.

If you're interested in our troop, we encourage you to come visit us at one of our meetings! We meet every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Huffman Hall on the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church campus. We love to have guests any time. Some meetings are more interesting for visitors to come to, so feel free to contact us if you're wondering which meeting would be best for you to come and check out Troop 511.

We will have a projector so that everyone can see the same screen, but bring your phone or laptop so that you can sign in, advance through, and take the quiz at the end of each course. You can also bring earbuds in case you want to take a different course than most. There will be snacks, there will be socializing -- let's have this be fun! We will also get anyone who's interested, started on becoming a Merit Badge Counselor!

Posted on Oct 8 2026 - 2:32pm

For our next meeting, Scouts planning to attend this month's Backpacking campout should bring thier backpack, if they have one, with the gear they plan to bring. Mr Dolan has a couple of packs he is ready to give away, so bring your gear and see if one. of those will work for you. Even if a Scout is not going on this campout, this is a chance, if a Scout brings their gear and their Scout book, to earn requirement Tenderfoot 1a: "Present yourself to your leader, prepared for an overnight camping trip. Show the personal and camping gear you will use. Show the right way to pack and carry it." Scouts will also be working with stoves (no need to bring one). Want to earn more than one signoff next wek? The majority of Scouts in the Troop need to earn the Hiking requirements for Tenderfoot. Two that Scouts could earn at this meeting are 5b and 5c:
